F.A.Q.
Are there days that the barn is closed to horse owners?
No. We are open 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
Do you blanket the horses in winter?
Yes, we do! Any provided blanket shall be placed on your horse when the temperature drops and removed when needed. We will also put on and remove fly masks provided by the horse owner. There is no charge for this service.
DOES THE FACILITY HAVE A VETERINARIAN AVAILABLE?
Yes. Waller Equine Veterinary schedule two visits to Callegari per month. If you make an appointment for one of these, you can avoid a barn call fee. www.wallerequine.com
Are the horse owners permitted to use their own veterinarian?
Yes . Of course.
Does the facility have a farrier available?
Yes. We have a list of several farriers. Anywhere from natural trimming to specialty/custom/corrective shoeing. There is a list posted in the barns.
Are the horse owners permitted to use their own farrier?
Absolutely. We only ask that they clean up after themselves and put any shavings/clippings, etc into any one of the many trash cans provided around the barns.
What should I expect to happen at my first lesson?
At your first lesson, as a beginner rider, after we fit you with a riding helmet, you will be introduced to the safety rules for being around horses. You will learn how to groom a horse, how to tack up the horse, how to assure that your tack is fitted properly (especially the girth/cinch), how to mount the horse, and how to ask the horse to walk, stop and to do simple turns. Then after the riding part of the lesson, we return to the stable to learn how to take the equipment off of the horse, clean up and return the horse to the stall. We finish up the lesson by learning how to clean up the equipment and put everything away.
What should i wear to my riding lessons?
Students should dress for the weather. Absolutely NO FLIP FLOPS OR SANDALS are allowed anywhere around our horses. Shoes appropriate for being around animals should be worn by all. Although, in warm weather, workers and guests can of course wear shorts, our lesson riders must still wear long pants when riding. If you don’t have tall boots or halfchaps, it is recommended that tall heavy socks are worn to protect the inside of your legs, even under your long pants.
In cold weather, layers of clothing are best, so you can shed a few layers when you warm up during your rides. For starting out with riding lessons, new students should wear jeans or other sturdy long pants, high socks, and a sturdy shoe with a small heel. Fingered gloves are also recommended to protect hand and improve grip on the reins.
It is advised to pull long hair back into low pony tail or braid. Do not wear any jewelry or piercings that could get caught on horse hair.
Please….do not wear loose clothing that could catch on the equipment and cause and injury. Long hair should be secured back and out of the way of the helmet straps.
It is wise to wear undergarments that will “protect” as well as “limit the bounce” of sensitive areas. Sport bras and other such “support” items may be considered for your comfort. Gentlemen riders have been known to wear biker shorts under their jeans.

IS THERE ANYTHING THAT I NEED TO PURCHASE BEFORE MY FIRST LESSON?
No. Your instructor will recommend anything that you will need after your first lesson.
What if i need to cancel my lesson?
No problem. Life happens! You have 12 hours to cancel a lesson
If you buy a packet of 4 lessons at $240 it has a $20 discount or $60 per lesson. If you want to cancel in the middle of the process, then the lessons are $65 a piece.

Can I CALL AND ARRANGE TO RENT SOME HORSES FOR TRAIL RIDES?
No. At this time we are strictly a boarding/training/lesson barn.
what if i need to trailer my horse, but don't have a trailer?
If you have a horse boarded with us, we can help you with your trailering needs. We charge $1.00/mile, as well as a service fee.
For example,
Waller Equine Hospital from Callegari Equestrian
If you would like for your horse(s) to be trailered to Waller Equine Hospital, it is going to be 20 miles one way (x 2) and we will charge $80 to drop the horse off and come back:
$40 = use of the trailer by mileage, $1.00 x 40-mile round trip
$40 = for one laborer, $20 per hour x 2 hours round trip
If we stay and wait for the horse, there will be an additional fee of $20/hour for every additional
hour worked. If two guys are needed, it will be $20/hour for each guy. Note:
It is the expectation that the boarder will load their own horse onto the trailer. However, if the owner cannot be present and the horse is known to be an “easy loader”, we can try to help you. If the horse is not an easy loader and we cannot efficiently get the horse on to the trailer, we will contact you to make other arrangements.
